We had the pleasure of designing the wedding stationery for this beyond gorgeous wedding held at Haiku Mill in Maui. The invitation is a custom design derived from our Lily passport design. The suite features a custom pocket fold in our chocolate paper printed in our metallic copper ink. The rest of the suite was printed in our melon and chocolate inks on soft white paper.
In honor of all you kiddos heading back to school, we picked a block font that is sure to make the team.
Introducing the fabulous employees of Spark Letterpress.
Alana Amdahl came to Spark in 2012 because of her love for all things crafty and beautiful. Graduating from SDSU with a degree in consumer affairs and a minor in business, Alana is your go-to sales and consumer relations gal. She’s chipper and always happy to dream up big letterpress ideas! Growing up in a building family she loves all things pertaining to home DIY and decor. She bought her first house this year and has been very busy making it a home. In her free time she sells real estate, crafts like a mad woman, and throws elaborate dinner parties!
Chelsea Marsh graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Design and Advertising. After designing her wedding invitations in 2010, she fell in love with all things stationery and printing. She joined the Spark team in 2012 and still can’t believe how lucky she is to be doing exactly what she’s dreamed of doing everyday. Thanks to the wonders of technology, Chelsea happily designs for our clients from her home with her new daughter, Charlie, the littlest member of the Spark family, right by her side.
Originally from Wooster, Ohio, Jason Yoh has a BFA in printmaking from the Cleveland Institute of Art. He has been a full-time letterpress printer since 2005, having worked at shops in Syracuse, Brooklyn and Minneapolis. Jason likes to think something is carried over when paper goods are handcrafted on generations-old machines and has a related fondness for old tractors. Favorite shop smell: Gojo soap. Favorite Pantone color: 185. Favorite font: Caslon. Lastly, he doesn't believe in naming printing presses but won't judge those who do.
Megan Burke hails originally from Wisconsin and graduated from Kansas State University. She has worked in operations with numerous arts organizations around the country while moonlighting as a bright-eyed bar maiden and introverted artist. At Spark Letterpress she serves as your friendly stationery sales associate, working hard to translate your amazing ideas so our amazing printers can make your dreams come true. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking and ten years of customer service experience, Megan boasts a plethora of creativity, professionalism and niceness to boot.
Annie Walsh is a born and bred Midwest girl. She graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Annie has a passion for and background in design but stumbled upon letterpress printing and hasn’t looked back. Having had experience printing and learning at various shops and book arts institutions, she is very excited to be a part of the team at Spark. Annie will be learning all aspects of production and finishing in her junior press operator role.
Art Deco style is so hot right now. Here is a nice, clean deco-esque script font to remind you of a bygone era.
I can’t believe it’s been a few weeks since our open house already. After all of the planning and excitement, it came and went all too quickly. We had a great time mingling with current and future clients, industry colleagues, vendors and more. We expect this to be the first of many future events as we now have the perfect space for hosting gatherings large and small.
During the event we handed out posters that were letterpress-printed in gold and gray on French Paper Dur-O-Tone 100# cover in Steel Grey.
In honor of summer, we wanted to showcase a colorful suite we created for a couple getting married in the Cayman Islands. Through our retailer, Studio Two Sixteen, we customized our Alyssa suite from our Impress album into this beauty. Using a mix of teal, silver and fuchsia inks on our bright white, teal and fuchsia papers, as well as adding special touches with the laser wrap, crystal and edge painting, the couple married a classic and tropical style beautifully. Happy Summer!
